Fruithurst - Vernon "Bunk" Day, 80, died Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 26, 2019, at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chester Pesnell, Rev. David Ginn, and Rev. Ronnie Day officiating. Burial will follow in Upper Cane Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, October 25, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Vernon was a lifelong resident of Fruithurst and a member of Muscadine Baptist Church.He retired from Chicago Bridge and Iron Co, Vernon was married to his wife Freeda for 58 years. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and gardening. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Viola Day, son, Samuel Carl Day, sisters, Hazel "Bunny" Riche, Irene Towers, and brother, Claude "Toby" Day.
