Lester

Anniston - Edwin Russell Lester, 88, of Iron City, Alabama, passed away Monday, December 11, 2018 at his home surrounded by family. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Iron City Baptist Church with Reverend Cody Hale officiating. A eulogy will be provided by Mr. Tony Snider and Mr. Charles Merchant. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service.

Mr. Lester is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ethelyn Lester; sons Forrest Lester (Sharon) and Foster Lester; daughters Ann Howard and Anita Freeman (Jody); grandchildren Nikki Rinehard (Brian), Forrest Lester Jr. (Tifanie), Casey Rosamond, Amanda Carroll (Ben), and Ashley O’Dell; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ethel and Russell Lester; sisters Gladys Turner, Wilma Bonner, Annis Lester; brothers Osborn Lester, Veron Lester; sons-in-law Ralph Howard and Jim Rosamond.

Mr. Lester was a self-employed home builder and owner of Iron City Woodworks. He was a devoted member of Iron City Baptist Church for 57 years where he was instrumental in building and/or remodeling almost every part of the church. He was a devout Christian with a true servant’s heart that lived to spread the love of Christ. He was a hard-working, loyal, and supportive husband, father, grandfather, friend, and neighbor. Some of his favorite things were Alabama football, growing food in his garden to give to others, eating good food, and his dog Sport.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Southern Care New Beacon Hospice for going above and beyond to provide exceptional care for our loved one.
