Heflin - Mr. Charles Ray Hendrix, age 75 of Ranburne, Alabama passed away Friday, November 9, 2018.

Mr. Hendrix was born in Graham, Alabama, on January 25, 1943, the son of the late Cicero and Drucilla Hendrix.

After graduating from Ranburne High School, he furthered his education having received his Bachelor’s Degree from Jacksonville State University and his Masters Degree from West Georgia College. He retired from Ranburne Elementary School, Cleburne County School System, where he served many years as a math teacher, principal and bus driver. Through his teaching career, Mr. Hendrix had a huge impact on the lives of many students. He made learning fun along with teaching them character for daily living.

Upon retiring from teaching he became a car salesman and spent time taking care of his family and gardening. He was an avid Auburn football fan and cook. His entire life evolved around caring for others especially his faithful wife, Brenda of 50 years and his loving daughters, Leigh Ann and Gina. Mr. Hendrix was a member of Crumley’s Chapel Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Hendrix; daughters and sons-in-law, Leigh Ann and Johnny Watkins of Carrollton, Georgia, Gina and Brad Cartwright of Woodstock, Georgia; grandchildren, Brianna Abernathy, Connor Abernathy, Mia Watkins; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and Joe Gatlin, Shirlene and Ken Mills and the son he never had, Bryant Turner. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hoyt and Marcel Nunnelley; brother-in-law, Michael Nunnelley; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Ray English and sister, Jean Mobley.

Funeral service will be held Monday, November 12, 2018 at 1 pm CST at Crumley’s Chapel Church of God with Rev. Kyle Morrow, Rev. Neal Fowler and Rev. Bryant Turner officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 11 am until the funeral hour.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.

Interment will be in Crumley’s Chapel Cemetery.
